Wildflowers planted near Hickam Cabin attract a wide variety of butterflies such as this Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus).
The Springbrook Trail is a reliable place to find Falcate Orangetips (Anthocharis midea) in April and May.
Shooting Star Bluff in the Gans Creek Wild Area gets its name from the abundant flowers (Dodecatheon meadia) growing in the glade.
The bridge over Little Bonne Femme Creek on the Springbrook Trail is one of my favorite spots in Rock Bridge. The gravel bar and mud banks are great places to find Common Shore Tiger Beetles (Cicindela repanda). In October 2011, I found a Giant Leopard Moth (Hypercompe scribonia) caterpillar crawling through the shoreline vegetation.
